It began broadcasting as 5AL after World War II, later becoming 8AL and moving to an office on Parsons Street where it covered some of the biggest stories of the time including the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain, self-government for the NT and land rights. The studio then expanded into an office above the photographic store in Reg Harris lane, before finally moving into its current home on Gap Road in 1990, an occasion marked in true Territory style with a string of camels.
