It’s back to the classroom for Territory kids this week. And it would have been pretty tricky to wag a day or two if you were in this class. Luckily they look like a pretty committed bunch. This was the full enrolment for Year 5 in Tennant Creek in 1954 under the care of headmaster Mr Ashenden. Facebook sleuths managed to identify all the students (now in their seventies!) as: Katherine MacLean, Ann-Marie Stokes, Heather Campbell, Dean Pilgrim, Bonnie Hunter, Clare Harris and Elizabeth Wade.

Forgotten Territory was a weekly photo column of historic images in the Northern Territory News which I curated from 2016 until 2019 supported by the collections of the Northern Territory Library and other cultural institutions around Australia, as well as local history Facebook groups.
